Our Professional Development
Are You a Helping Professional Experiencing Stress or Burnout?
As a teacher, social worker, counselor, law enforcement officer, corrections officer, fire/rescue personnel or other helping professional, you’re likely exposed to high levels of stress and trauma in your work. Whether it's supporting individuals and families dealing with poverty, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, or environmental challenges, the emotional weight can be overwhelming. Much of this suffering stems from trauma, and being regularly exposed to it can take a toll on your mind, body, and relationships.
If you're feeling the effects of compassion fatigue, burnout, or finding that stress from work is following you home, you’re not alone. The constant demands can have a significant impact on your health, personal relationships, and overall well-being.
How We Can Help
At Be Well Now, we provide ongoing training and support to help you manage the challenges of working with trauma. Our goal is to give you the tools to:
1. Better understand how trauma affects the people you serve
2. Recognize how vicarious trauma is impacting your own well-being
With Trauma-Informed Care training, you’ll learn strategies to care for yourself, your colleagues, and those you serve with greater compassion, clarity, and effectiveness. By taking steps to address the trauma you witness—and the trauma you carry—you can prevent burnout, build resilience, and sustain the work that’s so important to you and your community.
Current iSAT Initiative
Joe Klein continues to collaborate with experts in developing and delivering mindfulness programs for public service professionals. One current initiative, Inner Situational Awareness Training (iSAT), is designed specifically for correctional officers and nurses at New River Regional Jail. This program not only supports the well-being of staff but also equips them to co-create a healthier work environment for themselves, their colleagues and the people they serve.
Be Well Now is committed to spreading the benefits of mindfulness and self-care to professionals in Appalachia and beyond, helping individuals not only survive their challenging roles but thrive, with a deeper connection to themselves and their communities.
